Internship —
Special Ed. / Teacher

We currently hold internship opportunities at KFS SCHOOL for Special Education Interns for college students and adults interested in a career in Education. We will provide our interns with Orientations and offer Trainings under supervision of the Lead Teacher and Program Director. This opportunity is for adult interns (18+).

The school day is 8:45am-2:45pm. You are accompanied by KFS SCHOOL staff onsite the entire day. All materials, curriculum, and training will be provided by KFS SCHOOL.

Skills & Qualifications

Interns must be registered at an accredited college or university and have completed coursework, and examinations needed to perform duties in a private academic setting. Requirements include a background check, current physical examination, a negative TB test, and police records check.

Interns must possess excellent leadership, interpersonal and time management skills, proficiency with writing and communication, good problem-solving skills, and must work well within teams.​

Commitment & Responsibilities

Follow an individual education program for the student based on the student’s Education Plan.

Keep the child motivated and engaged.

Provide support for group, small group, and individual instruction. 

Under the direction of the Program Director the intern is responsible for planning, preparing, and implementing lesson plans

Attend team meetings.

Assist with providing regular, ongoing, positive communication with parents, including but not limited to, daily or weekly written and verbal reports.

Administrative tasks as assigned. 

Type of Intern Activities

Academics
Volunteers are needed for at least two hours a week to help KFS SCHOOL students with their classroom work under supervision of the classroom teacher. Grade levels are from K - 8 with focus mostly on elementary school levels. Our KFS SCHOOL helpers are acting one-on-one tutors (Shadowing one child).

Sports & Wellness
Engage and teach our students how to play sports and/or how to be physically active! Volunteers are needed for at least one to two hours a week to help kids learn fundamentals of sports, new fitness skills, and a love of being active.

Music
Share your love of music activities with our students by supporting our Program. Engage the kids in various lessons such as Instruments, Voice, Song Writing and Performance, as well as help to set up and/or clean up music room spaces.

Visual Arts & STEM
Share your love of arts & hand on activities with our students by supporting our Program. Engage the kids in various projects such as painting, craft, drawing, photography, pottery and more, as well as help to set up and/or clean up art room spaces.
